🎉 CIRCULAR FoodPack – Project Completed! Policy Recommendations for a Circular #Packaging Future 🎉 After 3.5 years of extensive research, the CIRCULAR FoodPack project has been successfully completed! 🚀 Our innovative sorting and recycling technologies have demonstrated how flexible food packaging can become truly circular. Today, the European Commission adopted its Clean Industrial Deal and its Action Plan for Affordable Energy. This brings together climate and competitiveness under one overarching growth strategy, for which affordable energy is a key condition. #Research and #innovation are key enablers for the Clean Industrial Deal. Continuing to invest in R&I is indispensable for protecting and promoting clean tech and decarbonised industries in the EU. R&I drives the development, deployment and scale-up of technologies across value chains in critical sectors, such as energy-intensive industries and clean energy. The Clean Industrial Deal will launch a flagship call under the 2026-2027 Horizon Europe Work Programme that will be paramount for ensuring the sustainable competitiveness of our energy-intensive industries and our global leadership. The Clean Industrial Deal confirms the central role of hydrogen in decarbonising our EU energy system, where we can build on 40 years of EU R&I investments, including in hydrogen valleys. The affordable action plan is a further step towards a full EU Energy Union. We will foster innovation, notably through coordination with Member States via the Net-Zero Europe Platform and the Strategic Energy Technology Plan. The Energy Union should also encourage Member States to increase efforts to spend 3% of their GDP on R&I and scale up clean tech innovations. This plan also confirms the support of the Commission to next-generation clean technologies, like nuclear fusion, enhanced geothermal and solid-state batteries.
